Curator > Afghanistan: A Different Perspective
Serena implemented a Photovoice inspired project with eight Afghan refugees residing in New Jalozai camp outside of Peshawar, Pakistan during the summer of 2001. Serena put disposable cameras in the hands of the Afghanis and asked them to document the health issues in their lives and throughout the camp. These photographs served as a means for discussion amongst participants and camp leaders. Serena also utilized the photos as a tool to advocate for improving sanitation, maternal and child health conditions and psychosocial interventions.
